H44GS 100w lamps are commonly used in non detructvie testing and other uv irradiation lab work.
In testing a ultraviolet dye is wiped onto the object to be tested then removed. Then the object is illuminated by the lamp and any ultraviolet residue left in a crack or blemish will fluoresce under the lamp.
